Bassem Hazboun's culinary journey began with the inspiration of his mother, who skillfully prepared a variety of dishes ranging from Middle Eastern to French cuisine. Her encouragement and freedom to experiment ignited Bassem's passion for culinary arts, leading him to pursue a Hotel Management Diploma from Bethlehem University and further education in hospitality programs.

His dedication to culinary excellence drove him to seek additional training in France and Jordan, broadening his culinary knowledge and expertise. In 2003, Bassem's career took off as he assumed the role of a restaurant manager and Head Chef at Diyar. His involvement in developing the outline of courses for the Culinary Arts program at Dar al-Kalima showcased his commitment to nurturing future culinary talents.

Bassem's instructional role at Dar al-Kalima involves teaching various courses in the Culinary Arts program, emphasizing the art of cooking, food basics, and international and Middle Eastern cuisine. His unwavering enthusiasm for Palestinian cuisine stems from the region's rich organic produce, which he believes contributes to the distinctive flavors of Palestinian dishes.

Under the mentorship of Rev. Dr. Mitri, Bassem had the opportunity to represent Palestinian cuisine on a global platform, showcasing unique flavors and techniques while acquiring new culinary skills. His passion for Palestinian cuisine lies in its ability to convey a sense of identity, reflecting the taste and produce of the land, and he is dedicated to preserving and passing on this culinary heritage to future generations.

Despite facing initial cultural challenges when choosing to pursue a career in culinary arts, Bassem's success story is a testament to his determination to redefine the perception of this profession in his community. He takes pride in infusing each dish with his own identity, creating culinary masterpieces that captivate the senses of those who savor them.

At Dar al-Kalima, students are not only equipped with the necessary culinary skills but are also instilled with a deep understanding of Palestinian hospitality and the versatility of Palestinian cuisine to accommodate various dietary preferences.
